Abstract
Because of its valuable characteristics such as flavor, high yield, qualify and demand, avocado (Persea americana M.) has become a product with high interest for the agriculture sector. A study of genetic variability in this fruit was done in this research. It was carried out a molecular characterization of 18 samples of avocado “National”, which were collected in the Austro, and 182 avocado trees from the working collection of Tumbaco .(INIAP),. determining the genetic diversity and structure. Additionally, a global analysis was performed with 48 materials of avocado “National” from the north and central valleys. Ten microsatellites was used using by the M13- Tailing technique. The samples were genotyped using the DNA analyzer LI-COR 4300. Moreover, 32 avocado ecotypes from the working collection of INIAP.
